Skills and Experiences

Objective

To become the Scout Executive in the Minsi Trials Council.  In this position I would utilize my expertise and vision for the further benefit of the Scouting movement in the counties of Northampton, Lehigh Monroe, Carbon, and parts of Luzerne in Pennsylvania, and all of Warren County in New Jersey. Working in partnership with volunteers and staff, use my strengths, passion, and experiences to grow the Scouting movement.

Strengths

  • Ethical leader who strives to create an atmosphere of closeness among all parts of a team.  Attitude and Authenticity are the same at home and at work.

  • Since January 2019 have managed a very tenured team, while being the youngest person on that team.  with the longest tenure and the most growth in Finance and Membership.  

  • Respected by staff and volunteers, by creating a cohesive culture of teamwork, mutual respect, and strong commitment to goals.  Staff will go far and above for the staff leader.  Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to share the mission and vision of the Scouting Program with volunteers, staff, and the general public. Collaborated with Fortune 500 CEO’s, Legislators, Bank Presidents, University Presidents, and Top-Level Educators to help further Scouting’s mission, while achieving the stakeholders desired result.

  • Grew direct support of Scouting 40% from years 2019 to 2023.   Led Council popcorn sales to an increase of 11% after a pandemic from $305,620 to $340,730.  

  • Grew membership in 2021(1 of approximately 20 councils to do so) and in 2022.

  • Awarded a 2022 National Marketing Award for our Membership theme and marketing idea and billboard of "TP, NOT TP" with a picture of a Poison Ivy Leaf and an Oak Leaf.

  • Developed strong and lasting volunteer and board relationships in all positions held.  Able to forge long standing relationships with community partners that have not been achieved in the past.  The partnerships formed have helped to facilitate financial and membership growth in the areas served.  Grown and developed sponsorships for special events and council expenditures.  Throughout time in Prairielands Council, have been able to recruit new high caliber people to help raise funds and take on volunteer positions.

  • A great communicator whose passion for Scouting exudes through daily life.  Able to clearly and effectively communicate a message to staff, volunteers, and the general public. Creates and delivers messages that empowers people to believe in the Scouting program, and to further increase their support and knowledge of Scouting.  This is shown through the recruitment of a top-level Council President who remarked that the passion exuded about Scouting was the reason for taking the position.

  • During tenure in current position have had the opportunity to work with many various media sources (i.e. radio, television, and print) to further the mission of the BSA.  These conversations have dealt with promotion of council events for fundraising and membership, and also with changes throughout the BSA to clear misconceptions and help the community garner a better understanding of the changes. 

  • Cultivated over $500,000 in cash gifts for capital projects.  

  • Continually looking at new ways to implement bold strategies to grow membership, recruit new leadership, and raise new funds.  Such things have included partnerships with local organizations such as Boys and Girls Club to grow membership, created open houses in districts inviting community leaders and alumni to reconnect with Scouting, and organized new special events to generate new giving and additional cash such as a Sporting Clay Tournaments, Pintwood Derbys, and high level Distinguished Citizens Dinner honorees.

  • Proven leader who has lead 3 summer camp staffs of 20 members to excellence each year.  Achieved National Accreditation each of those years.  Implemented new activities at camps such as Kayak Water Polo and nightly programmatic activities that encouraged youth to return year after year.  Through a team of volunteers implemented the first National Venturing Event in St. Louis, where over 1400 people attended from 19 states and 24 Councils for a weekend event.
